So... It's that time of year again where I reflect upon the accomplishments, mistakes made, and lessons learned from this past year.
Focusing on lessons learned, I can honestly say, that I've bettered myself in all aspects of my life… mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually… Although there is always room for improvement, I am happy with who I've become. Not only have I grown stronger as an individual, but I've learned to ignore all negativity, and live life in a more positive manner. I've learned to recognize my own emotions and manage them to produce positive outcomes. This has helped me to see the world with clearer eyes…
I've come to the point where I know exactly what I want, and what I need to do to get it. I am laser-beam clear about my goals in life and persistent about going after them without being pushy and harming others in the process… And I can honestly say, that this mindset, has definitely created the magic to transform my dreams into a reality. I guess when you are 100% clear about what you want in life, amazing things start to happen: success, happiness, good fortune, just to name a few.
I've also come to realize that being happy is a result of making smart choices… I take responsibility for my own happiness and refuse to be pushed around by ANYONE. 2009 has had its fair share of ups and downs… but i've learned to manage my emotions and I refuse to allow any negative feeling take a hold of me.
My experiences throughout 2009 have changed me completely. I’ve come to really discover what I do and don't want in life. This year was definitely a huge learning experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better year, full of adventures, lessons, emotions & people... I am always striving to better myself, and I believe that this is the perfect time of year to do so… I am ready to take on whatever challenges 2010 has coming my way.

My Outlook on Life
Simply put:
If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.
It's all in your state of mind.
If you don't like something, change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.
It's all in your state of mind.
The Simple Things
People, time is of the essence, so don`t come at me with run-arounds...if you come at me "ignoramus-style" then nice & understanding is the last thing I`ll be with you. Say something worth saying; words are only as true as the person who lives by what he speaks. There is nothing more sexier, sensual, beautiful, invigorating, call it what you will, than a person who has complete ownership of their state-of-mind, a great verbal-expansion and knows how to use it. Peeps, we are so involved with ourselves and such petty things that we don`t enjoy the simple things in life anymore... Don't take forgranted what you have in front of you; you know, the simple things.

A Piece of My Mind
Me: A bit too confident? No, I was just brought up to value myself & know what I`m worth; I have struggled through so much & learned what I could (although I`m still learning), to finally understand that I have a right to choose whom I want to surround myself with; I have no tolerance for ignorance. YES, I can be that down-to-earth female with the headstrong attitude, that shy yet self-assured kinda girl, that sweet and sensitie type of girl, or even that funky-vibin` chick who busts out with higher-leveled lingo...so do NOT judge a book by just reading the Table of Contents, take the time to read the WHOLE book that is forever adding chapters to it`s content. People, there is a time and a place for everything, so learn your surroundings and learn who you`re dealing with; I do NOT "holla", so don`t speak out of your arse just to do so; just to let you in on a "little" secret: sometimes silence IS golden. *Wink*

Remember When...
I came accross this article and wanted to share it with you. If you were born in the 80's or 90's... take a stroll with me. Close your eyes and go back...before the Internet or MAC... before semi-automatics and crack, before Pong or SEGA or Super Nintendo..
WAY BACK... I'm Talking about...
Hide and seek at dusk
Red light, Green light
The corner store
Hopscotch
Doubledutch
Jacks
Pogs
Kickball
Dodgeball
Mother, May I?
Red Rover
Hula Hoops
Running through the sprinkler
An ice cream cone on a warm summer night...
A cherry coke from the fountain at the corner drug store
Saturday Morning cartoons
Fat Albert, Road Runner, He-Man, The Three Stooges, and Bugs Bunny
Do You Remember?
When around the corner seemed far away, and going downtown seemed like going somewhere.
A million mosquito bites
Sticky fingers
Cops and Robbers
Running till you were out of breath
Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt
Jumping on the bed
Pillow fights
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down ….Remember that?
Remember When…
The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team
War was a card game
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon
What about...
When a quarter was a decent allowance, and another quarter a miracle
When milk went up one cent and everyone talked about it for weeks
When you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny
When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box
When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there
It was magic when dad would "remove" his thumb
When girls neither dated nor kissed until late high school, if then
When all of your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done
When being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home
Remember when...
Decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo"
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly"
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties
It was unbelievable that dodgeball wasn't an Olympic event
Having a weapon in school, meant being caught with a slingshot
Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better
Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin
Ice cream was considered a basic food group
Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true
Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors
Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc.Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat.....
If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!

Reflections of 2008
So once again, it’s the beginning of a brand new year. Looking back on the past year, I can honestly say that it was one hell of a rollercoaster ride. 2008 had a multitude of up and downs & twists and turns.
If I could, there are a million things that I would go back and do differently. But I’ve come to realize that the past is necessary, necessary for me to proceed with my life without any "ifs, ands or buts"… Sometimes you must experience things in order to appreciate the lesson & learn from it...
Reflecting on my accomplishments, mistakes & lessons learned, I can honestly say that I definitely accomplished one of my bigger goals in life; mistakes made: definitely, I wouldn’t be human if I produced none; lesson learned from these mistakes: you can bet your whole patrimony on it... but of all the feats accomplished, the most life-changing one happened most recently- I’ve figured out who I am. Although it took me a LOT to get here, I now know what I do and don’t want in life. No more childish games, no more time to waste. It’s time to let go of the past, move forward, and grow up… and this is the perfect time of year to do so.
My experiences throughout 2008 have changed me completely. I’ve come to really love and appreciate the things I have. This year was a wonderful learning experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better year, full of a myriad of emotions, thoughts, lessons & people...Although this year coming up shall not necessarily bear as many adventures as this past one (or so I think), I know it’ll be one that will make me stronger... I’m ready to take on whatever this new year has coming my way…
